Healthcare leader will advocate for use of Direct secure messaging to drive interoperability throughout the healthcare industry

BOISE, Idaho – June 13, 2019Kno2®, the company that provides interoperability as a service to everyone in healthcare, today announced that Jon Elwell, the company’s CEO, has been confirmed by the membership body as a Director to the Board of DirectTrust™. DirectTrust is a non-profit health care industry alliance created to support secure, identity-proofed electronic exchanges of personal health information (PHI) between provider organizations and between provider and patients for the purpose of improved coordination of care.

DirectTrust’s non-paid Directors support the work of DirectTrust with mission-based leadership and strategic governance. DirectTrust’s Board of Directors work with the CEO on policy, strategy, industry relationships, technological advances, and the end-user experience, including consumers, their families and their health care providers.

“Kno2 is a longstanding member of DirectTrust,” said Scott Stuewe, DirectTrust CEO. “The company is passionate about eliminating fax from healthcare and thus, I believe our foundational goals have alignment.”  Stuewe continues, “Jon will bring a unique perspective to the DirectTrust Board because Kno2 is not tied to a single platform like an EHR (electronic health record) vendor or HISP (health information service provider). I am confident that his insights into the post-acute space, combined with the expertise from our other board directors, will help successfully guide the organization and propel interoperability forward.”

While Kno2’s Interoperability as a Service™ has its place in every care setting, the company initially focused on charting a course where interoperability was lacking. In this new role, Mr. Elwell will advocate for healthcare sectors that did not receive government incentives to adopt an electronic health record (EHR), such as long-term post-acute care (LTPAC), emergency medical services (EMS), therapies and behavioral health, just to name a few. Now that 75% of the technology vendors who support that market are largely integrated to Kno2, Elwell will represent them and their emerging use of the Direct Standard™.

“I believe that DirectTrust plays an important role in healthcare,” said Jon Elwell, “and I‘m honored to participate with other dedicated industry leaders to drive the education and adoption of the DirectTrust Framework and the use of Direct messaging throughout the healthcare landscape.” Elwell continues, “Our commitment to consumers, providers and all other healthcare stakeholders across the care continuum is to educate, optimize and drive the implementation of existing and emerging electronic document exchange and content standards throughout the care continuum. No other standard is better aligned to remove fax from the industry than the Direct Standard.”

Mr. Elwell’s three-year term begins June 13, 2019.
