In some exciting news for people who have been watching healthcare interoperability for a long time, Carequality has passed an emergency waiver that allows users to access the network and be able to query for records even if the EHR they use is not integrated (this was a requirement before the waiver).
For those not familiar with Carequality, it includes many of the major EHR vendors such as Epic, Nextgen, eCW, Allscirpts, athenahealth, PointClickCare, and many more. Plus, thanks to an agreement between Carequality and CommonWell, this waiver will get providers access to almost all major EHR vendors (Cerner, MEDITECH, Greenway, CareCloud, eMDs, and many more are part of CommonWell).
Of course, if your EHR isn’t integrated with Carequality, how can you benefit from this?
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Kno2 is offering their On-Demand Patient Record Retrieval Service at no charge (Sign up for Kno2 here). While an EHR integration is much nicer, the Kno2 record retrieval service is better than calling a bunch of offices that are overwhelmed already and getting a bunch of fax responses days later.
