BOISE, Idaho – March 14, 2017 – Kno2™, the company that optimizes patient document exchange for everyone in healthcare, today announced a partnership agreement with Complia Health, a global provider of technology and expertise for the post-acute and long-term care market.
Complia Health will integrate Kno2’s interoperability platform across many of their products (Suncoast, Procura and Continulink) to enable long-term and post-acute care providers to share patient data securely with acute care providers. By replacing paper faxes with secure patient document exchange, Complia Health’s clients will be able to improve care coordination between settings to deliver better patient outcomes at a lower cost while supporting the shift to alternative payment models. The inclusion of Kno2 also ensures that providers who are participating in the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) program of the Medicare Access & CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) automatically meet the 2015 Edition Health Information Technology Certification criteria.
“The growth of value-based care, coupled with a rapidly aging U.S. population, has highlighted the importance of interoperability to support effective care coordination throughout every step of the patient’s journey,” said Christopher Junker, CEO of Complia Health. “Using manual paper fax is disruptive to clinician and caregiver workflows, expensive, and prone to risk and human error. By integrating Kno2’s platform into our products to power patient record exchange between acute and post-acute care providers through cloud fax and Direct messaging capabilities, we can ensure that patients consistently receive high quality, well-coordinated care. Interoperability is the key to the future of coordinated care and we’re pleased to be able to bring this to our customers through this partnership with Kno2.”
With Kno2, document exchange can take place within normal clinical workflows, eliminating the additional cost and work required to send and receive paper faxes while safeguarding protected health information (PHI). Additionally, documents exchanged through Kno2 can be incorporated directly into the patient’s electronic medical record so that the information is easily accessible at the point of care – delivering the right information, to the right person, in the right format, at the right time. This greater visibility into care delivered outside the provider’s walls ultimately drives better patient outcomes – further eliminating duplicate testing and other unnecessary costs.
By using the Kno2 platform, Complia Health’s clients will experience a competitive edge. In order for long-term and acute-care providers to maintain or grow their referral base, it has become critically important for them to be able to securely and electronically exchange patient records, enabling hospitals and referring physicians to meet the mandates for electronic transmission of information during transitions of care, as specified under the Advancing Care Information (ACI) program, formerly known as Meaningful Use.
Kno2.iQ™, Kno2’s proprietary data analytics solution, provides Complia Health customers with a monthly report, identifying which providers account for the most faxes. Then, Complia Health customers can leverage Kno2’s national directory of over a million providers and Kno2’s social connectivity platform to facilitate decisions to transition to electronic exchange. Once connected electronically, customers realize significant reductions in fax expense and time spent managing fax workflows while improving the secure exchange of patient documents.
This Kno2 partnership, in conjunction with the recent passage of the 21st Century Cures Act, underscores the urgency for creating widespread interoperability between healthcare providers’ systems to enable them to exchange patient documents easily. Among its provisions, the new law prohibits information blocking or restricting communications between providers in any way. The Kno2 platform, which includes a simple set of RESTful APIs that can be licensed and incorporated into virtually any EHR, makes exchanging patient documents electronically via cloud fax, Direct messaging or document query with any other legally authorized care organization throughout the healthcare continuum easy and cost-effective.
“Physicians must be able to exchange patient information efficiently between care settings in order to deliver the best patient care within the value-based model,” said Jon Elwell, CEO of Kno2. “Yet all too often, this important task is left to outdated technology from the 1980s. Complia Health has built a strong reputation for delivering innovative technology solutions that help long-term and post-acute care organizations solve their greatest challenges. We are proud that they have recognized the power of the Kno2 platform and have chosen to integrate our industry leading solution into theirs, ensuring vital connectivity between all healthcare stakeholders throughout the care ecosystem.”
